Magnolia DT - Birthday gift set - "Super Mario Edwin"

Hello! :)

Today I'd like to show you a new card that I've made using the new "Once Upon a Time Collection" from Magnolia. I love this collection so much, the stamps are absolutely adorable!

One of my favourites is the Super Mario Edwin.
He reminds of how I used to play Super Mario with my grandfather as a child.
I was never really good at it, my grandfather always won,
but I loved it and we had so much fun playing it :)

Here's my card:

"Super Mario Edwin"

I was inspired by the game design, which is very clean and simple, but also has lots of fun symbols and is very colourful.

I started out with a blue cardstock and decorated with clouds, stars, coins, a question box, "super mushroms" and the carnivorous "Piranha plants", which are all symbols from the game :)

Super Mario Edwin is coloured with Distress Inks on watercolour paper.
The banner is from "The Winner takes it allcollection" and says "Happy Birthday". :)

The "super mushroom" ...

.... and a star and some gold coins :)

I also made a little gift box that looks like a game control for the birthday gift :)

Thank you so much for your sweet comments,
they make my day! :)

Hugs,

Magnolia DooBee Pop Wedding Cake

Hello!

Since I've got a couple requests on making my blog posts in English, I thought I'd give it a try!
My English isn't very good, so please bare with me and feel free to ask any questions if there's something that's unclear :)

For today's project I've made a wedding cake using the DooBee Pop paper from Magnolia.

The DooBee Pop paper is a honeycomb paper, which is basically a stack of tissue paper that's glued together in a special way, so that when you unfold it, you get a gorgeous honeycomb pattern,
of which you can make 3D-embellishments for your cards, or 3D-projects, like the one I'll show you today :)
It's very simple, and very fun! :)

Here's a great video tutorial made by Tim Holtz on how this kind of paper works.

What I found while working with these papers, is that it can be a bit tricky to create big things like this one, since there's a limit on how much you can stretch out your paper.
So what I did, was that I adhered a couple of pieces of DooBee Pops together with doublesided tape, so that the paper became thicker and got the ability to stretch out even more :)

The cake is decorated with lace and pearls to create the look of icing,
and I also added some flowers to add a bit of colour :)

Here's a closeup of the flowers :)
I sponged them gently with some white acrylic paint, added clear glue and dipped them into a jar of glitter :)

hugs,
